From the 27th January to 4th February we celebrated National Story Telling week at our nursery. Each room has chosen one of their children’s favourite books and has designed activities around that specific story. Each day the children will took part in something different to celebrate their chosen book.

Bluebells enjoyed reading ‘Spot the dog’ exploring a variety of activities and even had one of the teams puppy came in to pay a visit.

Blossoms enjoyed reading ‘Pete the Cat’ painting their owned coloured shoes and singing the song ‘ I’ve got my white shoes I’ve got my white shoes’. The children went on a special walk with Pete the Cat! We set up a sensory walk on the lino to represent Pete’s walk from the story. So our socks came off and we used our toes to squish some strawberries, stomp on some blueberries, squelch in some mud and finally get all clean again in water! Just like Pete and his shoes! As we went through all the different areas we had Pete’s story in the background which helped us connect with all the different sensory trays and made it all even more fun.

Sunflowers enjoyed reading ‘Rainbow Fish’ with a variety of activities from the story. As well as parent guests at story time we will also be having Manager story time across the week. Each manager has chose their favourite childhood story and will read it to the children in each room. The managers were excited to share their childhood stories with the children. We had a fantastic time celebrating National Storytelling Week! Sharing the power of story telling with the children and families of Ridgmont Road.
